Getting mental health and addiction treatment is one of the most important steps a person can take, and the process of getting started should never be an inconvenience that prevents people from getting the care they need. At our treatment center in Wichita Falls, Texas, we strive to make starting the treatment process as easy as possible.
Telehealth & Mobile Assessments
Telehealth and mobile assessments are a beneficial option for individuals who may not be able to come directly to our Wichita Falls treatment center for their initial assessment.
With mobile assessments, a clinical liaison from Red River Hospital goes to a patient so that they can complete the assessment without having to come to our facility. This can be helpful for people who do not have immediate transportation or are unable to come to our hospital in a timely fashion.
While mobile assessments take place in person, telehealth assessments allow people to speak with one of our team members virtually via a video chat. These secured video chats are confidential and can be conducted using any device that has a video chat service.
The assessments that take place via mobile or telehealth services are the same as a person would receive if they were to do an in-person assessment at our hospital. By offering these services, we are able to help patients begin the admissions process more quickly.
What Happens During an Assessment?
Thorough assessments are a crucial part of the treatment process because they help our clinical team determine if we can provide the care that will be of the most benefit to the patient.
During the assessment, a compassionate member of our team gathers as much information about the person as possible. This includes discussing their medical history and any history of mental health or addiction treatment. This also serves as a time for our team to gather information about the symptoms the person is experiencing and how those symptoms are impacting them. Questions about the person’s education and employment experiences, as well as information about their social interactions, may be included for us to gain an understanding of how the concerns they have are affecting various aspects of their day-to-day life.
Once the assessment is complete, we contact a physician, and if the person meets the criteria, the admissions process begins immediately.
